The role of the dryer-desiccator located before the main A/C intake pipe is to collect any traces of moisture present in the system. Over time, it is possible that the dryer-dessicator would lose its effectiveness, allowing moisture inside the A/C system of your Porsche. This in turn, can damage the other components of the A/C system.  It is also recommended to replace the drier-desiccator every time you service your  A/C system by opening it up to the outside air.
