Our size “0” aluminum camshaft gear is suitable for the following vehicles:

    Porsche 356 (1950-1955)

    Porsche 356 A (1956-1959)

    Porsche 356 B (1959-1963)

    Porsche 356 SC (1964-1965)

    Porsche 912 1.6 L (1966-1969)

The aluminum camshaft gear is propelled by the timing gear on the crankshaft and regulates camshaft movement and engine timing.

Porsche used on its 356 and 912 engines different sizes of camshaft gears depending on the type of engine cases and camshafts used. Camsahft gear sizes that were used most often were stock size “0”, size «-1», size «+1» and sizes «+2» and «-2».

The size of the camshaft gear is stamped on the side of the gear below the gear teeth.

Camshaft gear size is mated to your particular engine case. It is very important that you use the appropriate size of camshaft gear, as minute differences in gear size can either decrease or increase gaps and required play between parts. This will cause either too much or too little gear backlash and will result in accelerated wear of engine components if the incorrect size gear is used.
