This complete piston and cylinder set from Malhe which is installed as original factiry equipment for vehicles sold in Europe has pistons with flat tops with a 8.0:1 compression ratio.

After installing this piston and cylinder set on a 2.0 L 914-4 sold in the USA, you will gain about 5 HP. in power. Your engine’s compression ratio will go from 7.6:1 (on American versions of the 2.0 L engine with pistons tops with an outer edge) to 8.0:1 (on European versions of the engine fitted with flat-top Mahle pistons). The difference in compression ratio and power between the USA and European-spec engines is explained by the fact that engines in American-spec vehicles used a type of fuel with a lower octane rating. However, ou Malhe piston and cylinder set with an 8.0:1 compression ratio can safely be fitted to an American car because of the higher octane rating of today’s fuels.
