Notes:
This
concave washer is only used on vehicles that are equipped with the limited-slip
differential option (Option code M220)
* For
vehicles with Type 930 4-speed manual
transmissions.
** For
vehicles with 5-speed manual transmissions only.
*** For
vehicles with 3 and 4-speed automatic transmissions.
This curved washer located inside the limited-slip differential housing
acts as a spring by applying a measured amount of pressure on the LSD’s
internal clutch plates. This effectively modulates the torque bias delivered
to each of the vehicle’s wheels as a function to their traction and individual
rotational speed.
When the cup-shaped washer flattens out and loses its convex shape, the
spring effect on the LSD’s internal clutch plates is reduced. This in turn
limits the ability of the LSD to regulate the torque bias ratio delivered to
each wheel and renders the LSD less effective.
Cup-washer thickness: ≈2 mm.
Quantity required per vehicle: 2 (placed at both ends inside the limited
slip differenctial housing)
