Expandable oil return tube (aluminum type) for Porsche 911 (65-89) + 914-6 + 964 + 993

Leaking oil return tubes on a 911 air-cooled engine will require that the engine be taken off the car and the cylinder heads be disassembled . In order to avoid this lengthy procedure, our extensible oil return tubes can be installed into or removed from the engine without removing the cylinder heads. Changing the O-rings on the oil return tubes can therefore be made much more easily.

The extensible tubes can be shortened by hand and taken off the engine by first loosening the circlips and then pulling on the tubes themselves by hand. The extensible oil return tubes are fitted with their respective O-rings. When you are removing a leaking oil tube to change the seals, it is highly recommended to replace the seals on the 2 tubes on the same side of the engine. Oil  return tube removal can be done without draining the engine oil from your Porsche. First warm up the engine to make all the oil flow from the reservoir into the crankcase sump. Then securely jack up the car on the side where you want the oil return tubes removed. This way the warm oil will flow into the lower opposite side of the engine and you will be able to remove without any spills the oil return tubes on the side of the car that is raised.

Aluminum extensible oil return tubes have the advantage over their steel counterparts of decreased weight and of improved engine heat dissipation.
