This flat rectangle-shaped filtering element is suitable for 911’s that were fitted with the K-Jetronic fuel injection system.  It is also suitable for the 911 T-K from 1972-73 fitted with the Continuous Fuel Injection System (CIS) (vehicle marketed only in North America).

JR air filters are made of 4 layers of cotton, which are held together by two outer layers of steel wire mesh. To prevent rust, the steel mesh is galvanized and plastic-coated, giving it a double protection. JR filters are impregnated at the factory with a special type of oil which also serves as an additional filtration element. Because of the oil, the dust is retained on the outside surface of the filter. A simple rinse with intervals of between 5 000 and 20 000 miles (7 000 and 30 000 km) depending on the driving environment for your Porsche, is enough to bring back the JR cotton filter to a  “like new” condition.

A recent evaluation carried out under ISO 5001.1988 has shown that JR filters do keep out 99% of airborne particles up to the 2.8 micron size (that is, 2.8/1000 of one millimetre). Moreover, the airflow through the JR reusable cotton filter is far greater than the airflow which passes through the OEM paper air filter.
