Note: Front and rear brake calipers for your non-turbocharged
Porsche 911 or 912 from 1969 to 1977 can be identified by both the bolt spacing
distance, that is the measurement from center to center of the holes used to
mount the caliper onto the strut assembly, and by the material of its
manufacture (steel or aluminum). 3 brake caliper types were offered by Porsche
for the 912 and 911 from 1965 to 1977:
1. 'M' Type front and rear brake calipers
are made of steel (smaller 2-piece caliper) and have approximately a 3- inch
(76.2 mm.), center to center, bolt spacing.
2. 'A' Type front brake calipers are made
of steel (larger 2-piece caliper) and have approximately a 3 1/2 inch (89 mm.),
center to center, bolt spacing.
3. 'S' Type front brake calipers are made
of aluminum (larger single-piece caliper) and have approximately a 3 1/2 inch
(89 mm.), center to center, bolt spacing.
Caution : Textar brake pads reference 911.061001 are destined to be installed on Type M steel front and
