Synchro ring 3rd >5th + reverse gear 911 (87-94) + 911 Turbo (89-94) + 1st> 5th 928 (85-86)

Our synchronizer ring for the transmission gears has several uses as original equipment in the Porsche parts program.

1. This ring is used as a synchro ring for the 3rd and the 4th gear as well as for the 5th gear and the reverse gear on the following vehicles that are equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission:

      Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 L (1987-1989)

      Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3 L (1989)

      Porsche 964 Carrera 4 3.6 L (1989-1994)

      Porsche 964 Carrera 2 3.6 L (1990-1994) **

      Porsche 964 Carrera RS 92 M003 3.6 L (1992) *

      Porsche 964 Carrera RS America 3.6 L (1993-1994)

      Porsche 964 Carrera 2 / Carrera 4 Turbo-Look 3.6 L (1991-1994)

      Porsche 964 Turbo 3.3 L (1991-1992)

      Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6 L (1993-1994)

Notes:

For the vehicles above except the Porsche 964 Carrera RS 92 M003, two of these synchro rings are mounted on the transmission main shaft for the 3rd and 4th free gears and two other synchro rings are mounted on the pinion (secondary) transmission shaft for the 5th and reverse free gears.

* For the Porsche 964 Carrera RS M003 from 1992, two synchro rings are mounted on the pinion (secondary) transmission shaft for the 5th and reverse free gears.

** This synchro ring is not useable on vehicles with Tiptronic transmissions.

Quantities required per vehicle in this application:

- 911 (87-94) + 911 Turbo (89-94) except 964 RS 92: 4

- 964 RS 92 M003 (1992) with transmission numbers: G5010 2002001 >> 9 99999 (1992): 2

2. This ring is used as a synchro ring for the 1^st + 2^nd + 3^rd + 4^th + 5^th as well as for the reverse gear on the following vehicles that are equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission:

       Porsche 928 S 4.7 L (1985-1986) *

Notes:

* This synchro ring is not useable on vehicles with automatic transmissions.

Quantities required per vehicle in this application: 6 (1 synchro ring for each transmission free gear).

3. This ring is used as a synchro ring for the 4^th + 5^th free gear on the following vehicles that are equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission:

       Porsche 928 S45.0 L (1987-1991) *

       Porsche 928 S4 CS Club-Sport 5.0 L (1988-1989)

       Porsche 928 GT 5.0 L (1989-1991)

       Porsche 928 GTS 5.4 L (1992-1995) *

Notes:

* This synchro ring is not useable on vehicles with automatic transmissions.

Quantities required per vehicle in this application: 2 (1 synchro ring for the 4th and 5^th-speed free gears).

4. This ring is used as a synchro ring for the reverse free gear on the following vehicles that are equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission:

        Porsche 959 2.85 L (1987-1988)

Quantities required per vehicle in this application: 1 (1 synchro ring for the reverse free gear).

The purpose of these synchronizer rings is to allow the free pinions from the transmission’s gear sets to mesh without grinding. If grinding or difficult shifting is experienced when gears are changed, your synchro rings may be worn out.
