Transmission case front rubber support mount 356 (50-65)

Our rubber support mount for the front transmission case is used on the following vehicles:

Porsche 356 Pre-A (1950-1955)

Porsche 356 A (1956-1959)

Porsche 356 B (1959-1963)

Porsche 356 C / SC (1964-1965)

This rubber mount for the transmission front end is used on all 356’s from 1950 to 1965 whose transmission is equipped with dual front support mounts. This concers the vast majority of 356 produced except for a few 356 B Coupé and 356 B Cabriolet Hard-Top models from 1960 that are equipped with a single front transmission support mount. Only a few Type 741 4-speed transmissions are affected by this (early 741 transmissions with Serial Numbers N° 32001 >> 34999). Porsche soon came back to a dual front mount system which is better able to withstand transmission case torque.

It is necessary to replace transmission mounts on all 356’s. These rubber mounts dry out and flatten with age and deteriorate with tar and oil projections. This caused the front end of the transmission to droop or sag which in turn renders clutch action more difficult and shifting of gears less precise.
